Forest Hills Runners


Founded in April of 2011, Forest Hills Runners is a running group based in Jamaica Plains, MA.  It’s community running at its best (free and for everyone), which we believe can bring people together from all populations in JP and its surroundings.  It’s both for Olympians and for people who have never run a step in their lives but would love to meet others and want to give running a try.

We had our first fun on Tuesday, the 26th of April, and have been running around Jamaica Plain and Boston ever since.

All runs meet on the grass across from the Stonybrook T-stop

Beginners and Run-walkers welcome!

Mondays - 6:00 am – Recovery run (Easy, slower pace for all)

Mondays - 7:00 pm – Social Run (Easy, slower pace for all)

Tuesdays - 7:00 pm – Tempo runs or Hill workout (More challenging workout – all paces welcome)

Wednesdays - 7:00 pm - Social Run (Easy, slower pace for all)

Thursdays - 7:00 pm – Hills or Track workout (More challenging workout – all paces welcome)

Join us after for drinks and food!

Saturdays - 9:00 am - Fun run: 1-3, 4-6, and 8-13 miles (All paces welcome)

Join us for coffee after the run  at JP Licks!

Sundays - First Sunday of every month at 12:00 pm – FREE running form Clinic at JP Centre Yoga

Sundays – 12:45 pm – Yoga for runners at JP Centre Yoga ($10) with Cara Gilman

Hi Jeannine,

Thanks for your note. All our runs are for runners of all levels. All runs start on the grass across from the Stonybrook T Station.

Our Monday and Friday morning runs at 6 am tend to be 3 or so miles at around 9-11 minutes/mile pace.

Tuesday evening runs at 7pm are called Tempo Tuesdays because we do a tempo run, which can help you learn how to run faster no matter how fast you are to start with. The run leaders have experience and explain how to succeed most at this run.

Thursdays at 7pm are speed days, which means we’re either running hills or we’ll be on the track. Both of these are great for beginners and advanced runners alike because you’re never far from other runners going either up and down the hill or around the track.

Our Saturday morning runs at 9 am are also for everyone, as are form clinics, which happen at 8:15 am some Saturdays when I have time. We have short beginner runs (3 miles at a walk/run), mid-distance slower runs (5 miles at 10-12 min/mile), short mid-paced runs (3-5 miles at 9-10 min/mile), mid-distance fast-paced runs (6-8 miles at 7:00 minute pace or faster), and long fast runs (10-15 miles at 6:30 pace or faster).

Thanks for your message.

The answer is, yes, all runs start from the grass across the street from the Stonybrook T-stop. We meet there for runs at 7 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and meet there at 6 am on Monday and at 9 am on Saturday, as well.

We look forward to seeing you out there. Running with FHR is a great way to keep running through the winter because we’ll always be running, no matter the temperature or conditions.

Are you all still doing this under the schedule outlined above? (I couldn’t tell how recent the most recent post was.) I’d love to join you on Saturday am’s, and maybe one weeknight.
